Today began with the news that the Autobahn to Munich is closed due to flooding of the Chiemsee. The owner of the small B and B where we are staying was stranded in Munich so his stand in was in close contact with him.
We were told it was safe to go to the nearby towns and amazingly it wasn't raining. So off we went to Berchtesgaden about 20 kl away. We drove down our mountain road and the stream that yesterday was nearly over the road had subsided - a good sign but more rain still in the forecast.

| I love this road leading to where we stayed |
 |
| These are apples I had never seen, They look more like doughnuts |
 |
| This really got to me. Cashiers in Germany get to sit!! I have looked at so many cashiers in Shaws and Target etc who stand all day. This is so simple. Should be required by labor laws |

| I found this cloud settled below the mountains magical. |

| Those cigarette machines are everywhere |

| Crucifix on the blue wall. We were told that this town is strong with neo Nazi's. I guess the uniforms we saw in Salzburg were no joke. I can't imagine a non Christian or even a non Catholic feeling comfortable around here. |

When we got back, our host, Michael had made it from Munich using back roads. Another guest arrived who had done the same thing. At first we planned to follow her back to Munich tomorrow but then discovered she wasn't leaving until mid afternoon so we plan to leave about 8:30 here 2:30 am in MA.
One of the features of this guest hous is a Float pool where there is a very high concentration of various salts so that one floats at zero gravity. It is totally dark. A form of meditation. Our host asked us if we would like to try it and I accepted. his gracious offer. People come here for the weekend just to experience it.
After my float I was placed in a room with what was like a suspended wooden lounge chair. It had a remote control that tilted it back and then had it gently swing. Candles were lit in the room and music played. I could have stayed there a long time but we were invited to dinner . Michael had cooked an Indian feast.
So the day was a wonderful mixture and tomorrow we will be on to Munich - one way or the other.
